2026: Rieke Elementary School

Growing More Than Gardens

Some projects stay with you long after the last stone is set. We believe the most meaningful landscapes do more than look beautiful—they educate, connect, and inspire. When we looked at the courtyard at Rieke Elementary School, we didn't just see an overgrown patch of ground. We saw an opportunity to spark wonder in kids, bring families together, and give teachers a living, breathing tool for environmental education right outside their classroom doors. In 2026, we were proud to partner with Rieke Elementary to bring that vision to life, and watching it come together was nothing short of inspiring.

Here's what our team delivered:

  • Scraped and removed all existing vegetation, plants, and soil—hauling out 30 cubic yards of material
  • Built a retaining wall around the bioswale to match existing stonework and create seating for kids
  • Graded and installed metal edging, gravel pathways, and a patio
  • Placed 28 seat boulders to create a fully functional outdoor classroom
  • Installed 3 seat pebbles outside individual classrooms for dedicated reading areas
  • Prepped all planting areas with weed fabric and barkdust
  • Led a family planting day alongside students and parents
  • Walking bridge across the swale—currently in progress!

We can't wait to see the finished space come to life and watch students learn and grow in it for years to come!
