Shorty’s Garden Center Is Now Part of Dennis’ 7 Dees!

Don’t worry—everything you know and love about this Vancouver Garden Center is here to stay! The rich history of the nursery will be forever honored, and it shall remain a staple within the passionate gardening community of Clark County.

History of Shorty's Garden Center - Now Dennis' 7 Dees Vancouver Garden Center

Shorty’s Vancouver was formerly Bishop’s Garden Center, which opened in 1958. It mainly sold bark dust, along with a few plants. The original Shorty’s Nursery was started by Ron “Shorty” Fournier at the former Ridgefield location. It sold trees, shrubs, and bark dust.

In 1988, Ron “Shorty” Fournier sold Shorty’s Nursery to Jeff Day, who added garden products and expanded plant sales. In 1996, Jeff Day joined Ed, Betty, Brian, and Ines Mahoney to purchase Bishop’s, making it a second Shorty’s location. They modernized the stores, enhanced product selection, and changed the name to Shorty’s Garden & Home.

In 2016, Dennis’ 7 Dees purchased Shorty’s and renamed it Shorty’s Garden Center. The Ridgefield location closed in 2020, while the Vancouver garden center location stepped up to service a larger community. In 2022, Shorty’s officially became Dennis’ 7 Dees.
