We offer a uniquely comprehensive and customizable paid internship program. You’ll get visibility and work experience in all aspects of our company and the chance to learn about the full range of specialties available in our industry. Plus, we can customize the program depending on your areas of interest!

Our full-service landscaping divisions include: Residential Design/Build, Residential Maintenance, Commercial Maintenance, Commercial Construction, Interior Plantscapes, and Retail Garden Centers.

Long-Term Career Potential

Many interns have become long-term employees at Dennis’ 7 Dees.

Compensation & Duration

Duration: Minimum of 6 weeks, up to 16 weeks
Seasonality: Typically Summer, but we can accommodate Spring and Fall interns as needed
Pay: $17 per hour; you may also qualify for college credit through this internship program

To be eligible, you must:

Be enrolled in a horticulture or landscape-related 2- or 4-year degree program
Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher
Provide your current resume
Have a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Be able to get yourself to work sites around Portland
Be able to perform varied and physically demanding tasks while on the job

What You’ll Learn

This is flexible and will be customized depending on length of internship and your interests. The following is a sample schedule:

2-3 weeks in Design/Build
2 weeks in field
1 week job shadow sales person

2 weeks Commercial Construction
1 week in field
1 week job shadow Project Manager and estimating

2 weeks Maintenance (Residential, Commercial, or both)
1 week in field – maintenance crew
1 day in field – irrigation crew
1 day in field – Interior Plant Maintenance
3 days job shadow Account Manager

1-2 weeks Retail Garden Center or Urban Plant Shop

1 week Office (Accounting and/or Purchasing)
