The client’s goal for this residential backyard renovation was to eliminate unusable space and create functional and coordinating entertainment areas for family and guests to enjoy. This included a new layout with a series of hardscape elements, striking landscape features, and complementary plantings. Plus, we preserved the existing lace leaf maple in the landscape as a focal point!

Our landscape design and installation team created various outdoor “rooms” and solved elevation issues by separating upper and lower levels, which included a large paver patio with two spacious seating areas, a covered outdoor kitchen and bar, a retaining wall for extra seating, and a terraced fire pit space.

To be cohesive with the hardscape, we modified a retaining wall unit and built matching raised garden boxes in the back of the yard. For the outdoor kitchen, we created a smooth transition from the home’s roof to the new covered Mahogony wood structure to prevent weather intrusion and complement the architecture.

The basalt column rock water feature is surely a statement piece, plus it produces a soothing sound just outside the home. The landscape lighting creates an enchanting environment in the evening, especially with the up lighting on the trees. Aside from being the perfect setting for relaxing and entertaining, the best part about this landscape is that it’s aesthetically pleasing from all views!
