This recently purchased 35 year-old home was in need of some major renovations and updating. The 22-acre site contained some severe slopes from the surrounding foothills and elevation changes to contend with which contributed to considerable drainage issues. The client’s main objective was to create an outdoor living environment to be utilized by the entire family and eliminate the drainage issues. Improving access to an existing and productive vineyard was also a major factor in the overall design. The client wanted to incorporate the home’s existing masonry to be cohesive with the modernized style of the entire renovation.

The landscape design added many different areas to sit, swim, cook, play and relax while enhancing the various elevation changes instead of eliminating them. We incorporated drainage solutions into each aspect of the project, which was all filtered through a planted retention area before exiting into an on-site pond that we also cleaned and renovated.
